GETTING STARTED

What is CapFu and who is it for?

CapFu is a browser extension that makes capturing, annotating, and sharing screenshots fast and calm. It is built for designers, QA engineers, product managers, support teams, and anyone who spends more time than they would like taking screenshots.

How do I install CapFu?

Click the Add to Chrome button on our site. The extension installs in under a minute and needs no account to start capturing. A small toolbar icon appears in your browser so CapFu is always one click away.

Does CapFu work in browsers other than Chrome?

Right now CapFu is available for Chromium-based browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc. Firefox support is on the roadmap and expected later this year.

Do I need an account to use CapFu?

No. The free tier works entirely without an account. If you upgrade to Pro, we will ask for an email so we can manage your subscription and send you a license key.

Is there a mobile or desktop app?

CapFu is a browser extension first. For desktop captures outside the browser, we recommend pairing it with your operating system's built-in screenshot tools and then dragging the image into CapFu for annotation.
Capture & Annotation

What capture modes does CapFu support?

CapFu supports full-page capture with auto-scrolling and stitching, visible-area capture of the current viewport, and region select with a pixel-precision crosshair that you can nudge with your keyboard.

Can I annotate screenshots after I take them?

Yes. Every capture opens in the CapFu editor where you can draw, highlight, add shapes and arrows, drop text callouts, and place emoji stamps. You can also crop, rotate, and adjust framing before exporting.

Does CapFu support full-page captures of very long pages?

Yes. CapFu auto-scrolls and stitches pages up to thousands of pixels tall. The stitching engine handles fixed headers and lazy-loaded images gracefully, so the result is a clean, continuous image.

Can I change the color and thickness of my annotations?

Absolutely. The toolbar lets you pick from a curated palette, set custom hex colors, and adjust stroke width. Pro users get additional presets and the ability to save favorite combinations.

Is there an undo or history feature?

Yes. CapFu keeps a local history of your last fifty captures. You can reopen any of them to continue editing, duplicate a capture as a starting point, or delete items you no longer need.
Export & Sharing

What export formats are available?

Free users can export as PNG. Pro users unlock JPG, PDF, and bulk ZIP exports. PDF exports support multi-page documents created from a sequence of captures.

Do exported images have a watermark?

Free exports include a small CapFu logo in the corner. Pro exports are completely watermark-free so your screenshots look professional in client presentations and documentation.

Can I copy a screenshot directly to my clipboard?

Yes. Every capture can be copied to the clipboard as a PNG with one click or a keyboard shortcut, so you can paste it straight into Slack, Notion, Figma, or a bug tracker.

Does CapFu upload my screenshots to the cloud?

No. Unless you explicitly choose to share or export through a third-party integration, all captures stay on your local machine. CapFu does not have a cloud storage layer.

Can I bulk export multiple captures at once?

Pro users can select any number of captures from history and download them as a single ZIP file. This is especially useful when documenting a full user flow or regression test run.
Privacy & Security

Where are my screenshots stored?

Screenshots are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. They never leave your device unless you manually copy, download, or share them. We do not have access to your captures.

Does CapFu collect any personal data?

CapFu collects only what is necessary to run the extension: anonymous usage metrics, crash reports, and your email if you subscribe to Pro. We do not sell data, run ads, or track you across the web.

Is the OCR feature safe for sensitive documents?

Yes. OCR in CapFu runs entirely on your device using a local WASM model. The image and extracted text never leave your browser, making it safe for invoices, health records, and internal documents.

What happens to my data if I uninstall CapFu?

Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored captures and settings. If you have a Pro subscription, your account data is retained for billing purposes but can be deleted on request.

Is CapFu GDPR compliant?

Yes. We process minimal data, keep it in the EU for Pro accounts, honor deletion requests within thirty days, and never use personal data for profiling or advertising.
Pricing & Billing

Can I use CapFu for free forever?

Yes. The Free tier includes full-page, viewport, and region capture, basic annotation, PNG export, and light and dark mode. There are no time limits, no capture limits, and no credit card required.

What do I get with the Pro plan?

Pro unlocks watermark-free JPG and PDF exports, the full annotation toolkit including highlighter, shapes, arrows, emoji stamps, crop with guides, timestamp and URL overlays, on-device OCR in twelve languages, capture history, bulk export, and priority support.

How much does Pro cost and how do I pay?

CapFu Pro is five dollars per month, billed monthly by card. There are no annual contracts and you can cancel anytime from your account page with no cancellation fees.

Is there a team or volume plan?

Team billing is in closed beta. If you need consolidated invoicing, shared seats, or SAML-based access control, email us and we will set you up with a custom plan that fits your organization.

Do you offer refunds?

If CapFu Pro does not meet your expectations, contact us within fourteen days of your first charge and we will refund it in full, no questions asked.
Troubleshooting

CapFu is not showing up in my toolbar. What should I do?

Click the extensions icon in your browser, find CapFu in the list, and pin it to the toolbar. If it is disabled, enable it and refresh the page you want to capture.

My full-page capture looks broken or cropped. Why?

Some sites use fixed headers, sticky sidebars, or infinite scroll that interfere with stitching. Try visible-area capture first, or use region select to capture the page in sections and stitch them manually.

The editor feels slow on large captures. Can I fix this?

Very large captures can tax the browser. Try closing other heavy tabs, enabling hardware acceleration in your browser settings, or cropping the capture to the relevant area before annotating.

I lost a capture. Can I recover it?

Open the CapFu history panel from the toolbar icon. If the capture is there, click it to reopen. If you cleared history or uninstalled the extension, the capture is unfortunately not recoverable.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Pro users can email us directly for priority support. Everyone else can use the feedback button inside the extension or reach out on Twitter. We read every message and ship updates based on what the community asks for.

Still curious?

Could not find your answer?

Our team is friendly and responds within one business day. Pro users get direct email support; everyone else can reach us on Twitter or through the in-extension feedback button.
